On the Eve of Madness.............

Finally we are less than a day from the start of the NCAA Basketball Tournament.  Yes, I know there were some "play-in" games last night, and two more tonight, but those don't really count.  Tomorrow begins the field of 64, playing down to one champion!  Let the Madness begin!!  Actually, when you watch as much college hoops as I do, the "madness" actually begins sometime in late February!

So, write out your brackets, pour over the match ups, flip your coins and rub your lucky charms.  Take it all in, and cherish the moment as you have yet to lose any games!  By this time tomorrow people all over the country will be cursing young college students for missing lay ups, crumpling their brackets sheets and pulling their hair out over the upsets and mayhem that is about to ensue.

What a wonderful time of year!

So, without further ado.....the moment you have all been waiting for!!!  Here are my brackets!!!  Maybe a little on the chalky side, but I did pick a few upsets here and there.  Not a lot of big surprises with the final four, but I just feel confident in those teams making it.  This is the only bracket I will play, or reference when claiming to have a game picked.  It's the only bracket I use to enter pools, etc.  I may have leans on upsets for certain games. (E.g. Morehead State or Wofford), but ultimately, the only big upset I have is Oakland ov. Texas.  I do have all four #11 seeds advancing to the second round, assuming USC wins tonight.  I also have 4 double digit seeds advancing to the sweet 16.  So, for better or worse, these are my picks!!

What is this Blog About??

If you asked yourself that question, then here is your answer!!!

I have decided to start a blog to chronicle my daily gambling and sports watching habit, and my ever growing desire to be a more successful poker player.  Throw in my take on kids, politics, music, food, drink and whatever else comes my way, and this is what you have!!!!

Here is a brief run down of just who the hell I am!!

I live in the Chicago suburbs, with my girlfriend, and her 11 year old son "E".  We've been together over 2.5 years, and it's been a very interesting ride!!  I do not have any children of my own, so finding myself in a parenting role has been quite interesting!!  "D" (my lovely girlfriend) also has a daughter (13) that lives in Denver with her biological father.

I love sports.  I love watching sports, talking about sports, gambling on sports, bitching about sports, etc.  There isn't an office pool that I won't get in.  Some might say I have a gambling problem, and on the surface I can see why that may be.  However, I don't gamble outside of my means, and in reality it's just a very involved hobby.

I also love poker.  I play online all the time, and live when I can.  Bankroll variance has been very frustrating of late, and I'm not sure what my game plan is going forward.  I really feel I have a knack for it, and can make some money doing it.  I play mostly small stakes, and right now my plan of attack is to make small profits at the cash games and sit n go's and use that to buy into larger tournaments, and hope to have a breakthrough run and a big cash!!

I feel I have a lot of interesting things to say, and a skewed sort of perspective on a lot of things in life.  If nothing else, I will use this blog as a creative outlet for those thoughts.  What happens after that, well, only time will tell!!!!!

Now, I would love to tell you more, but the first college games tip in about two hours, and I need to figure out which games are worthy of losing money on!!
